Important Info About Editing and Linking Unique IDs
- Unique ID Edit Requests:
Please keep in mind that Johnathon is the only one who can edit a Unique ID. The only Parameter that can be edited is Gender. If you need to update the Gender of an ID, please submit your request by sending an email to johnathon.garcia@ped.nm.gov.
- Unique ID & Incorrect Information:
Do Not Create New IDs due to incorrect information. The Data attached to the ID is not a factor in State Reporting. To protect the student's privacy, the ID data is not viewed. Be sure to report the correct info during Data Collection. You should also inform your SIS Vendor so they can input the correct Data in their system.
- Unique ID Duplicates:
Sometimes duplicate IDs are created unintentionally. We understand this happens, and we are more than happy to help with this. We cannot delete IDs, but we can link them. If you have more than one Unique ID for the same Student or Staff, you will submit a Unique ID Link Request.
- Before Making Link Requests:
With multiple IDs, we can only continue using one ID. This ID will become the Primary ID. When selecting the Primary ID, it's crucial to run both the STARS Student Display Report and the Nova Student Display Report on all IDs to be linked. The ID with the Most Data Must Become the Primary ID. Any duplicate other than the Primary ID will be considered a Secondary ID, also known as the "UID to Link".
- Requesting Unique ID Linking:
You will send an email to timothy.lockwood@ped.nm.gov and CC johnathon.garcia@ped.nm.gov. Please use text instead of images when providing the Unique IDs that need to be linked. Please don't send an image of the IDs that you would like us to link. When you copy the ID and paste it into the template, it eliminates errors when we input the data to link the IDs in the system. Staff IDs are handled in the same manner as Student IDs. Copy the IDs and paste them into the template below based on the ID Type.
